This January, 10 children from Shree Tashi Bal Bikas Lower Secondary School joined WLO. The majority of them come from low-income families. WLO aims to help them in anyway possible, and hopefully they can contribue to their communities in the future.
Our WLO members at Corona del Mar High School penpal with the kids at Shree Tashi Bal Bikas Lower Secondary School. They try often to write letters to each other. However, there have been several barriers. Some difficulties include difference in language and limited internet access in the villages. Since the kids at Shree Tashi Bal Bikas speak Nepali, translators are needed to read the letters they wrote. In addition, internet is limited in their village; thus, the principle of the school often has to drive to the city to email or send any letters.
WLO is hopeful in helping the communities and villages in Nepal with our expanding membership.
